Best Places to Visit in Florida #5

Disney World.png

Disney World is so well-known it seems almost redundant to put it on this list. But the park–which is actually four connected theme parks, two water parks, and a number of performance venues, sports arenas, and recreation complexes. The park is incredibly self-sufficient: with the exception of the trips from and to the Orlando airport, you can spend your entire Florida vacation never leaving the park. In fact, I’d recommend it, especially if you’re going for the first time. You won’t get to see everything in the park no matter what, so there’s no need to complicate it by taking day trips elsewhere. Save your explorations of the rest of Florida for another vacation.

Cities to Visit in Florida Entry #4: Key West

Michael Harper of North Palm Beach, Florida, is writing a series about tourism in Florida.

All the charm of the south can be found in Key West, Florida. One of the southernmost parts of the continental US, Key West’s historic district moves at a more relaxed pace than some of the bigger cities. Key West offers museums, botanical gardens, walking paths, and quite a deep cultural history, too — Ernest Hemingway lived and wrote in Key West for much of his life.

Sports fans, Tampa is the place for you. Not only does Tampa house some very important historical and cultural landmarks, but also three major sports teams. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers welcome their fans to Raymond James Stadium to watch their home football games in the fall. Baseball fans can catch a Tampa Bay Rays game at Tropicana Field, and hockey fans flock to Amalie Arena to watch the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Cities to Visit in Florida Entry #2: Orlando

The heart of tourism in the panhandle state, Orlando houses some of the country’s biggest attractions and novelties. Disney World alone, with all its characters, movie sets, and themed drinks, brings millions to the city every year for vacations, proposals, and family reunions. Seaworld also draws families to gaze at the aquatic animals and watch the shows. Universal Studios also brings in dedicated movie and TV fans to tour the space where the magic happens. If a jam-packed trip of tours and excitement is what you want, Orlando is the city for you.
